i've loved all the family time i've gotten to enjoy this past week.
i really do have the best family. there's nothing like a family party at the 'mengos house!
but i'm ready to have my bedroom back.
since my yia yia's been in town these past 4 days, margs and i have been bunking up in her room. i really haven't minded because it's been so nice to have grandma around, but makes you appreciate the little luxuries.
i love, love, love my new baby cousin, rowan nicole.
seen in my previous post. she's the one in the tutu. only 3 weeks old! so precious!
i was trying to get stuff done before my 3-close shift at uo, which ended at 1:20am monday night/tuesday morning. it was the longest day ev.er.
& my best friend growing up is in town from san fran (allison), so we made some plans for a little butler middle school cool kids reunion yesterday which included me & allison plus 5 of our guy friends. mike, allison & i went to this christkindlmarket german fest downtown for some yummy food & beer before meeting everybody at this bar in the south loop called kroll's - casey, you should totally go here! it was basically a classy sports bar that played good music & had super comfy seating (the mat meets kona). approved.
the ones i placed on top turned out fine, other than a freezing, rock-hard gummy. but the ones with the gummy in the bottom of the shot were sickness. imagine taking a jello shot & getting a surprise chunk of hardened gummy in your mouth. ew.
tonight is the christmas blackout elephant exchange party at taryn's!
everybody brings some kind of alcohol worth about $20, wrapped, & the exchange begins. whatever you end up with is your drink for the night - whether it be mike's hard lemonade or test-tube shots. everyone shares though, of course. craziness!
i have to work from 4-close tonight, which means that i prob won't get there til about 11:15 (aka i'll miss the actual exchange), but you better believe i'll be in attendance - gummy bear jello shots in hand.
you know those few "can't imagine life.. er, getting ready.. without you" beauty staples? i don't have very many of them, but there are two very special products that i can't imagine being without on my list:
neutrogena nighttime pore clarifying gel
this stuff is incredible! it keeps my face blemish-free without drying out my skin.
i almost never get zits & i like to think it's because of my dedication to this product. it could also be because i'm 24 years old, which is a little old for acne. either way though, i won't stop using this stuff until it's no longer available - which may be soon since the last time i bought it, i had to order from ebay.
perscriptives jet black eyeliner pencil
this is my all-time favorite eyeliner - the best i've ever used in my life. it glides on smoothly and stays put all day long - no rubbing off or smearing into the crease after hours of wear - yet the pencil is soft enough to make it perfect for smudging if your going for that smokey eye look.
so you can just imagine how upset i was to find out that perscriptives is closing up shop.
everywhere. and everywhere i go - nordstrom, lord & taylor, neimans, macy's, sephora - no longer carries perscriptives or is sold out of this particular pencil.
seriously, what did i do before this little gem?
answer: i looked like a $2 hooker with eyeliner smearing, getting into my contacts, and running down my face at the slightest gust of wind. it was a complete mess.
when the sun is always out and you never get old and the champagne’s always cold and the music's always good... without a wrinkle in today cuz there is no tomorrow just some picture perfect day to last a whole lifetime and it never ends cos all we have to do is hit rewind so lets just stay in the moment, smoke some weed, drink some wine, reminisce talk some shit forever young is in your mind leave a mark that can never erase me neither space nor time so when the director yells cut, i’ll be fine, i’m forever young…
