Evening Commute

it kind of makes my day when i see the red line violinist at the state and lake stop on my way home from work.

let's see.. what's happened in the past almost two months?

i took off work every friday and most mondays in june.

went to a cub's game with taryn and my favorite 19 year olds.

marciny visited chicago.

we partied - and did a pub crawl.

biggie, lisa, aunt vikki and i took rowan to brookfield zoo.

she kissed a goat and we saw the dolphin show.

alyssa, taryn and i gargoyled post-girls' denner and then we met mia and jay tay at burton's place - open til 5am, duh.

omg had the best weekend ever. again.

hung out with my fam in the burbs.

sushi and chilling. i like, i like.

it was chicago's big st. patrick's day celebration and it was wildddddd. lisa and i had her bro and his friends over for brunch in the morning, pre-bar hopping.

we made an egg casserole (can't recommend that recipe enough! make it.), bagels, muffins, bloody mary's and mimosas. then we hit some bars with kristen and the guys - mahoney's and callahan's. i met a super hot guy. nothing happened with that. some girl tried to steal my jacket at the one bar (i'm not even kidding). i found it after searching for 20 min. thought about punching her in the face but just ripped my coat off her chair and left instead. then we went over to jay and aaron's where a bunch of my friends were hanging and playing drinking games. fun fun fun. went to bed at 3am - repeat of last year much?

missed you taryn! and liz! and natalie (dude, just move back).

my cousin nicky's bday is today (happy birthday!) so lise and i went to his house in lisle with the rest of our families and spent the day hanging with baby row. after going to church this morning.

we finally tried out holy name cathedral - omg gorgeous! i might love it as much as i loved highland park methodist... and that's a lot.

i'll post pics this to better recap as soon as nicky puts them up on fb.

of course i didn't take any photos of my own. why do i own a camera?

bootcamp again tomorrow. ahhhhh it's hard!

but needed. i'm both excited and dreading it. lets get skenny.

i love that chicago constantly has street art exhibits popping up around the city.

like this display that stopped me in my tracks while walking to watertower on friday.

i have a horrible track record when it comes to losing expensive things.

two weekends ago it was my gold aviator ray bans. this weekend it's the ankle strap on one of my shoes. THE ANKLE STRAP. how do you even lose the strap to a shoe!?

i'll tell you how. by 2am your feet hurt so badly that you decide you just can't take another second of wearing shoes. so you take them off and walk home through the sidewalks of chicago barefoot. the next morning you wake up disgusted by the blackness coating the bottom of your feet and mourning the loss of yet another pair of shoes and the hundreds of dollars you spent on them.

i remember a lot from friday night. i remember going to a rooftop pre-party with my friend jacqueline from work, taking a bus to duffy's, moving on to lasalle power co., running into a past coworker at social 25, meeting up with guy friends at bull & bear, being yelled at by a cabbie, having some random cute guy protect jacqueline and me from that angry cabbie, convincing said random to order (and help me devour) nachos from angelo's burritos, & walking home sans shoes.

i do not, however, remember eating a chocolate cake star. lets just hope that's because it was jacqueline that ate it, not me. i hope i hope i hope.

my mom started a blog for her interior design business, tiger lily collection.

love it! go, mom - you social media master! or at least you will be. :)

Catch the FEVER

blackhawk fever!

chicago was in full support of the hawks yesterday & a reported 2 million people came out to watch the parade. pretty much all of edelman took a field-trip downstairs around 11am to see the trolleys of fans, budweiser clydesdales, double decker busses filled with players and their families, and of course, the stanley cup.

i met up with taryn, jt, steve, etc. at north avenue beach today.

it was 90+ degrees out & about 100 times more crowded than this picture (or the one below, for that matter).

this was, of course, after brunch with yvette and her boo.

& sadly, despite the fact that taryn & i laid out for about 2 hrs (everyone else bailed because they had been there for a few hours already - including taryn), i look pretty much exactly the same as when i left this morning.

wah wahhhhh tanning fail.

margaux & i went to tcby tonight.

it was delicious. now i feel sick. this has to stop immediately.

i need to go to bed. exhaust.

bloody mary's & hours of sunshine will do that to you.

i'm sorry i've been away.

i just haven't had the time or energy to blog lately.

life if crazy - but good. here are the highlights:

i'm still loving edelman. i'm always super busy - "no time for facebooking" busy. but i love being back on a set schedule. it's great.

i am now only working at volare on saturday nights (as opposed to working friday and saturday nights), which is a nice break to my anti-social streak. but it also means that i have one day a week "off", which is... not ideal. i'm always so tiredddddd blah.

i went on a date the other night with a boy who looks like patrick dempsey in can't buy me love. but cuter.

i'm currently reading emily giffin's "love the one you're with." i'm hoping this book teaches me something about the value of just making a decision & sticking with it.

yvette's in town! unfortunately we didn't get to meet up last night due to libations beginning to flow at 5:45 pm and not stopping until 11:30 pm - at which point i had to book it to union station to catch the last train home. but i think we're going to brunch tomorrow! followed by some beach action. cheeeaaahhhh, 87 degrees!

my cousin lisa & i might be getting an apt together in july! i'll keep you postie on that one.

i'm currently flipping back & forth between my girl & sister act.

i've fallen a little behind on my blogging & updates due to the new job & my general slacker-ness. here's a snapshot into my life over these past couple of weeks.

i am socially unstable.

due to my recent undertaking of non-ideal working hours (i.e. hostessing from 4:30-11pm every friday & saturday night -- only saturdays as of this past weekend, thank god), i have literally not gone out more than like 3 times in the past month & a half? this coming from the girl that went out with friends upwards of 4 times a week when i first moved back to chicago.

i think this will change along with the weather.... hopefully i can find a happy medium.

today was a day of exploration.

it started with my attempt at an updo this morning.

i've never done one before. it turned out pretty cool!

after our mother's day lunch at volare, margaux & i decided on a whim that we wanted to make friendship bracelets. so 3rd grade. love! so we took a trip to michael's & came home with a $3.99 variety pack of thread. this was the result.

if we're true friends, you may have already seen my facebook status. but i miss austin & river floating enough to mention it twice.

& possibly more than i miss austin itself, i miss road tripping there! with friends, of course.

czech stop . insane heat . floating the river . rope swings . beer . best friends . mexican food . 6th street . 4th street . free jello shots . dance parties at gay bars . dance parties in living rooms . swimsuits & sunglasses . pita pit (bahahaha) . good times

Update:

i just realized that a half marathon is 13 miles.

maybe i won't be taking advantage of this "opportunity."

Rock 'n' Roll Chicago Half Marathon

i got something in the mail the other day about the upcoming rock 'n' roll chicago half marathon, benefiting the american cancer society. it's $110 to register & will take place on sunday, august 1st.

i've never done anything more than a 5k, but i think i might give it a shot. i'd love to have a running (...slash walking) buddy. lemme know if you're interested!!

Working Girl

hey-oooooooooo!

i'm employed!

sort of. when i was invited back in for a 2nd interview with edelman, i was told that the dove position was actually an internship, not an aae position. i was a little bummed, but considering that edelman hires from within the company, i decided that it would still be worth it. i mean, at this point, what do i have to lose? nothing. & it's a foot in the door. not to mention that the position is paid & it's 40 hours a week, so i'll be making way more than i am now. & gaining experience, of course.

so while it's not exactly what i was planning on, i'm still very appreciative for this opportunity.

here's to a 9-5! ...err, 9-whenevertheyletmegohome.

i'm doing the 3-mile walk for ovarian cancer on on saturday, may 1st!

all donations & pledges go toward ovarian cancer research.

registration is at 8:30am, the opening ceremony is at 9:30, & the walk begins at 10.

it was the most gorgeous, sunny day & taryn & i got to enjoy it from the 3rd row. shabooya! no, we didn't pay the $250 for those tickets. we just sat down in the nearest empty seats after saying hi to the bullpen coach, whom taryn knows (long, interesting, slightly creepy story)... & we never got kicked out! here are some pictorals.

i was driving home from the city this afternoon when the lady in front of me slammed on her breaks so quickly i was unable to stop on time. i slammed into her bumper & this was the result. her car was unharmed except for a small scratch of white paint.

oh, i also received 2 tickets.

one for failing to stop, the other for expired registration.

i don't think this week could possibly get any worse.

yesterday was the most fun day ever.

taryn & i forgot to eat all day, other than a single shamrock pancake at one of the house parties we went to. that would explain why....

i woke up starving this morning, with a rug burn & no phone.

i think i lost it somewhere between the dark horse, houndstooth, dark horse again, & the cab ride home. f.
