it was wonderful spending this afternoon with the fam in honor of baby rowan getting baptized.

i'm exhausted.

i can't wait to get a "real" job so that i can stop working like a crazy person & having minor to major panic attacks on an almost daily basis.

katie & whit! thanks for the phone calls today. i'm so sad to have missed them! loved the vm's & i promise to return asap. xo!

Dear friends all over the world,

i'm awful.

i'm sorry.

let me explain.

i'm currently.. sort of.. working 4 jobs.

1. urban outfitters.

my schedule is unpredictable. i make nothing. my main form of payment is in the form of a 40% off discount, which i'm unable to take advantage of because i am too poor. ironic.

2. rebuilding a website for c&r carpentry.

my cousin works for this company. they don't like their current website. they saw the one i made for my mom. they asked that i design one for them. it's a learning process.

3. marketing & social media for my cousin jimmy's soon-to-be-dropped album.

he's a musician. he's great. he knows nothing about how to market himself. he's working with a boutique ad agency in downtown chicago called mauge. he asked that i be involved in the entire process & give my input as much as possible. it's awesome. it also takes up most of my non-working time.

4. volare.

as if i had any extra time on my hands, i decided to take a hostess job at volare, an upscale italian restaurant in oak brook. why? it pays better than urban outfitters, plus those "high rollers" tend to dish out tips for priority seating. i'll be working every thursday, friday, & saturday night from 5pm-10/11pm. ta ta, social life.

oh, did i mention that i'm also still hunting for a full-time, great paying pr/marketing job in the chicagoland area? well yes, i am.

p.s. natalie, i have an interview at edelman on monday! woop woop, thanks lover. :)

the good news: because of my newly reformed, slightly more structured schedule, i'm now free to do whatever i please during the daytime hours on thursdays, fridays, & saturdays. that includes hanging out with/chatting with all of you!

mom & i went on an evening stroll around the midwest club the other night since the weather has been so delightful & this guy crossed the street 50 yards ahead of us (i didn't catch it on camera until it was over by the pond).

i've never seen a deer in the midwest club. it's a gated community which means that this buck would have to have walked right in the front gate. very very sneaky.

it was the most gorgeous, sunny day & taryn & i got to enjoy it from the 3rd row. shabooya! no, we didn't pay the $250 for those tickets. we just sat down in the nearest empty seats after saying hi to the bullpen coach, whom taryn knows (long, interesting, slightly creepy story)... & we never got kicked out! here are some pictorals.

my cousins dawny, jordan, & timmy came to church with mom & me this morning. we all went out for brunch at emmy's afterward & have been hanging at my house since. dad made chicken & dumplings for dinner, i had a meeting with the owner of volare (i now have a 2nd job, which pays more than my urban pennies), & the weather is beautiful.

all in all, a pretty wonderful day!

i have so many wonderful memories of her that i will cherish forever. she was the holiest, funniest, craziest, most generous & loving person, and i will miss her so much.

god truly blessed me when he chose her as my aunt & godmother.

i can't think of anyone more deserving to be raised up to heaven on easter sunday. my cousin dawny took a photo of the sunrise just after her mom passed away. such a perfect exit.

just got back from a traditional family birthday dinner at benihana, followed by some cake - from weber's of course. the best!

This is my life.

i was driving home from the city this afternoon when the lady in front of me slammed on her breaks so quickly i was unable to stop on time. i slammed into her bumper & this was the result. her car was unharmed except for a small scratch of white paint.

oh, i also received 2 tickets.

one for failing to stop, the other for expired registration.

i don't think this week could possibly get any worse.

instead of any confessions, i'm gonna get heavy on you for a minute. sorry.

if you've been reading my blog for a while, you know that my aunt carol lee was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer at the end of 2008. she underwent chemotherapy last year & by the grace of god, it worked. she was in remission up until a couple of months ago when doctors noticed that tumors had returned.

unfortunately, these past few months have been a real struggle for her. she's been in & out of the hospital so many times it breaks my heart. she now has cancer in over 45 parts of her body, the largest tumor being in her abdomen (attached to an artery), & the level of pain she's dealing with is unreal. the chemo made her so sick the last time that she was reluctant to go through it all again, but decided to give it a shot in hopes that it would shrink the largest tumor & alleviate some of the pain. she went for her first (more mild) treatment last monday - it didn't go well. it made her so violently ill that she ended up back in the hospital last week. she was released today, but due to the fact that she is physically unable to eat or drink anything without throwing it up, the doctors have given her anywhere between a week & a month to live.

i can't bring myself to pray for anything but a miracle, but i know that things are past the point of no return. i'm heartbroken. she's one of the people i love most in the world.

please, please, please. pray for her.

we'll probably meet up with the boys after that for some raging.
