Sunday Night Confessional

i've fallen a little behind on my blogging & updates due to the new job & my general slacker-ness. here's a snapshot into my life over these past couple of weeks.

i am socially unstable.

due to my recent undertaking of non-ideal working hours (i.e. hostessing from 4:30-11pm every friday & saturday night -- only saturdays as of this past weekend, thank god), i have literally not gone out more than like 3 times in the past month & a half? this coming from the girl that went out with friends upwards of 4 times a week when i first moved back to chicago.

i think this will change along with the weather.... hopefully i can find a happy medium.

today was a day of exploration.

it started with my attempt at an updo this morning.

i've never done one before. it turned out pretty cool!

after our mother's day lunch at volare, margaux & i decided on a whim that we wanted to make friendship bracelets. so 3rd grade. love! so we took a trip to michael's & came home with a $3.99 variety pack of thread. this was the result.

if we're true friends, you may have already seen my facebook status. but i miss austin & river floating enough to mention it twice.

& possibly more than i miss austin itself, i miss road tripping there! with friends, of course.

czech stop . insane heat . floating the river . rope swings . beer . best friends . mexican food . 6th street . 4th street . free jello shots . dance parties at gay bars . dance parties in living rooms . swimsuits & sunglasses . pita pit (bahahaha) . good times

Dear Texas,

i miss you!!

it's texas/ou weekend

& i soooo wish i was in dallas right now.

i laugh just thinking about last year. jill, sara, and i met up with all the rowdies at jbobs' apartment to watch the game. jbobs invented the nastiest cocktail ever made & named it a "summer breeze." we drank way too many of them, jill tried to heat up some food, that didn't work out so we went to chuy's - the best texmex in the world. we proceeded to almost get kicked out because jbobs shouted the f word infront of a table with children, sara and i were putting chips in the light fixtures, and jill was harassing smooth velvs.

all around, one of the best weekends of last year.

lets also take note of the difference in weather in dallas vs. chicago.

last year i wore a long strapless cotton dress & sandals.

not really, but it is cold here.

Sunday Night Confessional

first off, let me just tell you that this weekend was

so much fun!

ohmygoodness

i miss watercolor already.

i'll make sure to post some pics & fill you in on all the deets asap :)

i don't have much to "confess" this particular sunday night

other than that this trip has further confirmed that i am blessed beyond measure when it comes to how amazing my friends are.

as the hours leading up to my move dwindle, i'm full of nostalgia & sadness. i found out tonight that my parents plan on loading up and getting on the road by tomorrow afternoon, which means that i might not even have the chance to say goodbye to some of you. wah.

so to those who were in watercolor with me this past weekend and those who were not, i love you all so much.

whether we met at smu orientation the summer before freshman year, in the dorms, at the chi-o house, or at work, you've become my second family and i can't imagine what these past 6 years would have been like without each and every one of you. there's no doubt that you are the reason i will always look back at my time in dallas as some of the happiest years of my life.

and although i have absolutely no intention of losing touch with any of you just because i'm moving, i do want for you to know that i will miss you all terribly. i'm so thankful for all the joy you've brought to my life, the support you've lent, and the advice you've shared.

what will life be like without tivo marathons, gossip seshes, road trips, dance parties, movie nights, tailgates, knox st, & gummies?

thanks for making my time in dallas unforgettable.

but this is definitely not goodbye...

just see ya waiter!

watercolor!

s'mores, bikerides, white sand & waves. i just can't wait.

even if it does rain everyday like weather.com suggests,

i know we will have the most wonderful time.

as for today...

i'm just packing away & trying to get rid of some furniture.

already sold the desk, woo woo!

i'm thinking that with all the packing done, the move will be relatively easy - minus the fact that we have 80 million stairs in our apartment.

i dreamt last night that my mom and i took an impromptu trip to paris for no reason at all. umm, i wish! i don't remember much from the dream, but i do remember some fabulous fashion, gorgeous buildings, and updating my mobile fb & twitter statuses to "j'adore paris!" HAHA addicted much?

time has both flown by and moved at a glacial pace at the same time.

so, i spent a good chunk of this afternoon driving from grocery store to grocery store asking for empty cardboard boxes. i'm sorry but

a) i'm freaking poor & b) even if i had extra cash laying around, i'd rather not be spending it on moving boxes.

anyway, long story short, the search continues. the cashiers and customer service people were all so willing to ask around & give me helpful suggestions though. just people helping people.

i'm sure you've seen or at least heard about this hilarious but rather vulgar you tube video, but have you seen the one made in response to it? as someone who has witnessed a multitude of guy friends sing and act out the afore mentioned song while playing beer pong & becoming increasingly intoxicated, this had me laughing. so approp.

yay for little projects that help you remember fun times.

as previously mentioned, i spent some time scrapbooking last night.

i started working on this project two years ago - right after graduation. it's a collection of pictures and keepsakes from my four years at smu, documenting dorm life, parties, formals, chi-o, trips, friends & fun.

i haven't touched it in a year, so when i came across the big book with photos and concert tickets sticking out while going through all the junk i'm going to have to start packing one of these days, i decided i should get out the glue stick and spray adhesive.

definitely a work in progress, but it's looking great already!

i'll try to figure out a way to give yall a little peek at it when it's done. :)

14 days & counting!

Overwhelmed & Uninspired

i.can't.focus.

i'm trying to put together a writing sample for the company i interviewed with the other day, consisting of a press release and a pr proposal. i've been trying to do this for hours.

i'm having a great deal of difficulty - especially because the "client" is made up, which means that i have to, in turn, make up all the facts/details about it for this little project of mine.

i'd much rather be reading my library books.

but then i'll be thinking about all the time i'm wasting. all the time i'll have to spend on this later. blahhh.

i'm stressed.

& it's not just because of this stupid writing sample.

it's because my life as i know it is about to be shaken up & i'm a little worried about how the pieces will fall when it's all said and done. it took me 4 years to find the friends that have become my second family. soon i'll have to do it all over again.

but i know i'm making the right decision.

here's to starting back at square one.

it's sure to be an adventure.

Great Indoors

finally.

the rain has come to dallas.

if i wasn't able to sleep in this morning,

i probably wouldn't be so excited about this weather.

but i was able to. so i am.

few things are better than the occasional lazy rainy day.

makes me want to snuggle up on the couch and watch sleepless in seattle. but in an effort to be productive, i'll be spending the morning/afternoon sipping coffee & applying for jobs. in my pj's.

..we'll see if i'm still loving the rain by the end of this week..

i can't imagine a more gorgeous or more appropriate day to recognize and appreciate our earth.

whitney and i laid out at the pool, as usual, and enjoyed the sunny 90 degree weather. about half of that time was spent wading in the actual water. it was like a real summer day! oh, i can't wait!

pool, sunshine, pizza, tivo, & friends.

according to weather.com, it's a breezy 78 degrees out right now. at 11:25 pm. i love summer nights almost as much as i love summer days. i would still have my balcony door open right now if it weren't for the insanely noisy traffic (& that damn trolley) on mckinney.

honestly, it's perfect. too bad it's almost midnight. i'd love to be sitting on my front steps eating an ice cream cone right now.

i think the reason i love this weather so much is because it reminds me of home and being little. spending all day at the midwest club pool with my brothers and our friends, ordering pizza and ice cream snickers bars from the snackbar, getting yelled at for not abiding by "adult swim" rules, and ending the night with a bike ride, a bbq on the back deck,

& a family trip to "stop & chat" for chocolate covered frozen bananas.

could you imagine anything so perfect?

here's what's up:

i had my phone interview yesterday morning.

it went well! they want for me to come in to meet personally

with peeps in the office when i get back in town.

thanks to all who asked! :)

after that biznass, whitney, yvette and i laid out at the pool. 

i got burnt & now have some pretty interesting tan lines. special.

whitney and i also tried out $2 tuesdays at the fish last night.

the service was not great, but i'm all for anyplace where i can get a yummy sushi dinner for only $4. total.

i got the spicy tuna roll (way spicy) + whit and i split edamame & a veggie roll. deeelish.

we probably should have stopped there, but in true form, we went for ice cream after dinner. not just any ice cream though.

yes, i ordered the "mort's favorite." go ahead, look it up. & then be jealous.

not too jealous though. i ate so much i wanted to vom afterward.

i also looked up the lineup for lollapalooza,

the chicago music festival similar to acl. 

i'm definitely going to be purchasing a ticket, so if you'd like to come visit me in chicago this summer, i highly recommend choosing the weekend of august 7-9. hey-o!

Sunday Night Confessional

i ate both a taco bell crunchwrap & a kiddie shiver

within an hour's time yesterday.

there goes my healthy streak.

i'm currently living a really weird "in between" life.

knowing i only have a month and a half left in dallas makes me appreciate everything and everyone i'll be leaving behind, but at the same time, i just want to fast forward to 3 months from now when my life will be semi-normal again. i want to be settled. i want the get up, shower, go to work routine back. i want to get back on a path that's actually going somewhere.

reverend mark craig spoke today about "living between the steps" as opposed to just making it from one hurdle to the next. god gives us 86,400 seconds a day that we're allowed to use however we choose, but once they're gone, they're gone for good.
